Your starting society handicap is based on your actual golf handicap, but that's where the comparison ends! Your society handicap from that point onwards is calculated based on your performance in the society events.
The following calculations are used to adjust your handicap after each event:
Finishing Position
All the event positions are calculated based on your Stableford score for the event. Based on your finishing position, your handicap will be cut or increased according to the following rules:
These values a rounded UP, e.g. if your handicap is 12 and you finish 2nd, your handicap will drop by 2 shots (10% of 12 = 1.2 and then rounded up to 2).
To account for the anomaly of percentages against 0 (for those fortunate to play off scratch!) a standard 1 shot addition or deduction will be made depending on the finishing position.
Overall Winner
Any player winning an event will have a minimum HCP reduction of 2 shots
Stableford Score
Your f overall Stableford scores are taken into account when calculating HCP deductions or additions per event:
These values a rounded UP, e.g. if your handicap is 8 and you score over 20 points on your front 9, your handicap will drop by 1 shot (5% of 8 = 0.4 and then rounded up to 1).
To account for the anomaly of percentages against 0 (for those fortunate to play off scratch!) a standard 1 shot addition or deduction will be made depending on the finishing position.
vs Winner
Your score vs the event winner's score is also taken into account in the HCP calculations
If your Stableford score is more than 10 points lower than the event winners Stableford score then you will be awarded a 5% increase on your handicap
These values a rounded UP, e.g. if your handicap is 15 and your Stableford score is 11 lower than the event winners Stableford score , your handicap will increase by 1 shot (5% of 15 = 0.75 and then rounded up to 1).
Overall Deductions/Additions
Maximum adjustment to any players HCP at any one event will be 6 shots
